It’s back to beautiful Switzerland in September for the eighth consecutive year. Easily our most loved and popular trip. The
itinerary is similar each year but new day trips added occasionally. Still the wonderful Alfa Soleil Hotel who treat us all like family
members.
Those traveling this year will enjoy three new day trip destinations. First there is a visit to Blausee (Blue Lake), a wonderful
park like setting not far from Kandersteg where a small gorgeous lake, brimming with trout from a near-by farm will
make you want to grab a pole. A great picnic spot which we will take advantage of doing just that. Secondly we will take
the funicular to the summit of Mt. Niesen for a remarkable 360 degree panorama of snow capped peaks and sky blue lakes.
A restaurant with a outdoor veranda offers the chance for lunch in the most beautiful dining room you can imagine.Thirdly
another day trip takes us to the town of Biel where we will board a river boat for a 3 hour cruise on the Aare River to the
baroque town of Solothurn.
Of course we’ll return to our many favorite destinations during our twelve day stay including Zermatt where we will take
another lift for an impressive view of the Matterhorn and it’s surrounding peaks and glaciers. Two mountain trail hikes will
make you want to yodel as you pass below the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau peaks and above magnificent valleys.
A visit to Luzern is always popular as well as medieval Murten where you can walk along the ramparts that protected the town
in olden times. We’ll visit the castle in Thun and Oberhofen Castle located on the shore line of Lake Thun. Also the Swiss
Outdoor Museum at Ballenberg offers you a chance to see and explore how the Swiss lived several hundred years in the past.
As usual, a good buffet breakfast and a wonderful dinner each evening are included. A Swiss Alphorn concert will entertain
us on our arrival day as we sample local wine and cheese and the local Yodeling Club will perform for us one evening. A busy
