    Romantic Germany

Do medieval towns with defensive walled fortifications and watch towers still intact stir your imagination? Do castles, palaces and knights bring about thoughts of a romantic lifestyle lived by those who pledged chivalry above all?
If you have been intrigued by any of the above, we have a very special adventure for you. It’s a trip to the German region of Bavaria and in particular to an area called the Romantic Road.
The road stretches from the city of Würzburg down to the village of Füssen near the Austrian border and it is filled with wonderful medieval towns and villages many of which are maintained as they were 800 years ago. You can walk along the walls, peak through the viewing slots where archers once rained down arrows on their attackers and enter the watch towers where guards kept vigilance and if things were peaceful, calmly proclaimed to the people below “So G’sell so!” (All is well!). They still do that today in some of the villages.
We will visit many of these towns and villages with charming names like Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Dinkelsbühl, Donauworth and Weikersheim.
Our home base Nordlingen is no less charming.
Our hotel is the NH Klösterle Nördlingen, built in the 1200’s as a monastery, a place where monks once went about their daily routine amid ancient stonework. The comfortable guest rooms are anything but monastic. The hotel’s striking white-and –yellow-facade, with it’s renaissance windows and steeply stepped gables fit snugly into the old-town center.
You can admire the town’s jumble of roofs from the top-floor fitness center and sauna-steam bath.
As usual from A La Carte Tours, you get the complete package for an exceptional price. Included are r/t air to Germany, bus transfers in Houston and Frankfurt, twelve nights in the hotel with breakfast and dinner included, a German rail pass and most gratuities. Alcoholic beverages, entrance fees, etc. are additional. Departure date is May 12 and return is May 25, 2007.

Total price is dependant on the group air fare and should be finalized by June, 2006. The price is approximately: $2850 per person
